Germans Adopt--and Within Two Months, Solve All of the Problems with--a Traditional Western Education

So, I find this article hilarious.  Europe standardized its degrees, following more closely a bachelor's/master's setup, and German students are having a tricky time adjusting.  Their main complaints with the system are the following:

  • They're worried that after they get a bachelor's they'll have a hard time finding a job.
  • They're finding that companies in the natural sciences are more likely to only recognize Master's degrees.
  • The bachelor's lectures are very large.
  • The system focusses on savings, not investments.

Huh.  You know, it really is bizarre that Germany's having so much trouble with this.  I would not have imagined that these problems might be faced in an educational system, whatsoever.

On top of it, since part of the changes was to start to charge for education that used to be free, the minister of education has promised to "provide more financing to the universities, mainly by extending subsidies for less-well-off students." That'll fix all of it.  Even erase any economic disparity in Germany whatsoever!
